Student-led Sustainability Project Teams - Apply Now
We invite project proposals spanning the full breadth of sustainability topics, including but not limited to energy, water, communities, food, built environment, and transportation (external to the University of Michigan). Project teams seeking support through the Dow Distinguished Dow Awards competition are encouraged to submit a project proposal for a $5,000 Seed Grant.
March 14, 2019, 4:00 PM: Seed Grant Letter of Intent are due - submit online.
April 11, 2019, 4:00 PM: Seed Grant Applications are due - submit online (a letter of intent is required to submit a full application).
Special Call Focus Areas: We are particularly interested in innovative efforts focusing on 1) plastics recycling at the national and global levels; 2) Working with clients/communities where sustainability solutions or interventions were previously applied, to assess the impact of past projects and provide new recommendations based on an assessment.
Student-led & Faculty-advised: Project proposals should be student-led, faculty advised, and action-oriented, outlining a new product, service, or project that seeks to protect the environment and enhance the quality of life for present and future generations, see: Guidelines.
Eligibility: This competition is open to U-M Ann Arbor students at all academic levels. Teams must identify a client or organization, develop a needs assessment, scope of work and timeline of activities and deliverables. Project proposals in partnership with external organizations are welcome. We anticipate supporting up to 12 total project proposals/teams. See Previous Projects.
From $5,000 - $50,000: Each seed grant project team awarded $5,000 has the opportunity to compete for additional support through a Large Grant, up to $50,000.
September 13, 2019: Written Progress Report Due
November 25, 2019: Final Written Reports Due
December 7, 2019: Dow Fellows Program Symposium Presentations
