Parking & Transportation Services added seven hybrid buses and 30 hybrid sedans to its fleet this year, continuing to operate one of the largest alternative-energy vehicle fleets among universities in the United States. Use of the seven hybrid buses will provide an estimated annual fuel savings of approximately $44,000 (based on current fuel prices) over a diesel bus, with an improvement in fuel economy and reduced emissions.
More than thirty blue bikes are available for daily, weekend and semester rentals through the new bike rental program, Blue Bikes, launched in August 2012. U-M is also exploring a bike sharing system with the city of Ann Arbor and other local partners.
