Planet Blue Student Leaders spend approximately 3-5 hours per week on their responsibilities and programming, including outreach to their hall community, planning, project work, and attending trainings. Work may include:
- Paid training in environmental behavior change, organizational change, communication, and sustainability leadership.
- Contributing to a large, team effort. During the 2015-2016 year, Planet Blue Student Leaders organized and carried-out a pilot compost program in Bursley Hall residents, working closely with both staff and students. PBSLs led everything from marketing material development, equipment selection, outreach and events, to measurement and evaluation.
- Individual or small team project, such as but not limited to developing a plan to encourage residents to certify their rooms sustainable through "Planet Blue Room", identifying sources of water or energy waste and working with facilities staff to reduce them, developing sustainable back-up plans in situations such as the dish washing machine breaking down, holding a skill workshop or "swap" event, working with residential education staff on sustainable messaging through-out Housing, etc. This project can be tailored to your indvidual sustainability interests and skills.
- Serving as a sustainability contact, such as during tabling events, for residential education staff, Housing professional staff, across Student Life and campus, and fellow students.
