Planet Blue Ambassador Program

Planet Blue Water Bottle Planet Blue Ambassadors are leaders in sustainability on campus, armed with up to date information on the issues facing sustainability and current sustainability initiatives on campus while promoting and modeling environmental and socially responsible practices.

Planet Blue Ambassador Certification

The Planet Blue Ambassador Certification consists of five training modules directly connected to U-M’s sustainability goals in energy, food, waste, water, and community. This program trains U-M community members in sustainable culture and behavior.

Each 5-10 minute module includes an interactive game with suggestions to get involved, as well as information about U-M’s goals and progress to date. Once certified, Planet Blue Ambassadors will have access to a personal online dashboard where they can track their progress and access resources about sustainable behaviors.

Planet Blue Ambassadors will also be invited to bi-annual meetings to share best practices and experiences, as well as other events to receive further sustainability training, discuss issues, share ideas, and discover resources. More information.

Additional Programs for Students

Planet Blue Student Leaders – Student ambassadors living in residence halls have a unique opportunity to be student leaders for the Planet Blue Student Leader (PBSL) Program. The goal of this campus outreach program is to create a culture of sustainable behavior among students by promoting and modeling environmentally and socially responsible practices in the residence halls. Students conduct educational programming, lead environmental and waste audits, create promotional materials, and serve as advisors and mentors on environmentally-responsible behavior in the residence halls. Planet Blue Room - Students in university housing can certify their room as a “Planet Blue Room” by committing to live sustainably on campus. More information.

Sustainable Workplace Certification - Expand sustainability to your whole workplace with assistance from the Office of Campus Sustainability by completing the Sustainable Workplace Certification Program. More information.

Sustainable Lab Recognition - Labs are valuable tools, but use a lot of energy and resources. The Office of Campus Sustainability will provide information, assistance, and recognition for any interested laboratory on campus. More information.
